Justif:ID 16 - 17
OLDHAMS card will be launched Sept 2006.
The card is being implemented to prevent harm to children and nuisance caused by young people from access to restricted goods, such as alcohol is an intervention supported by the New Deal for Communities (NDC).
One of the main issues businesses face is being able to identify the age of customers, particularly those trying to buy tobacco and alcohol. The introduction of the “Justif ID” cards gives them something specific that they can ask for, to help prove the age of the person in front of them.
The “Justif ID” card has two levels. The 18 plus card and the 16/17 year old card, this will provide suitable identification to cover all significant age restricted products. Both cards have been accredited by PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme). This therefore gives residents and Licensees confidence that they are presented with a recognisable ID card
How Much Do I have To Pay?
The ID cards are free, however if lost, a fee of £2 will need to be paid before a new ID card can be produced.
What Do I Need To Do?
To get the ID card, you must be 16 or 17 years old (or within one month of either your 16th/17th birthday), and produce valid form of photographic identification, and birth certificate with your application form. For example photo driving licence or a passport.
If you do not have any of the above documents, you can give the application form to a ‘Professionally Qualified Adult’ to complete Section B. This will include your Doctor, Teacher or a Police Officer. Please remember that whoever signs section B must be 25 years old or over, and must sign a passport sized photograph of yourself.
Please note that staff at the accreditation centres will need to check details given in Section B therefore, you will receive your ID cards a couple of days later, once the checks have been completed.
When Can I Get the Card?
The ID cards have been accredited but will not be available until the end of September 2006.
