Justif:ID Card 18+
OLDHAM's New ID Scheme - 'JUSTIF:ID' was launched on the 9th August 2006.
Under the new licensing policy PUBS & CLUBS MUST adopt the THINK 25 policy and the off licenses MUST adopt the Think 21 policy.
What's all that about then?
Well if you look under 25, you will be challenged by the Door Staff, Bar Staff or a manager to provide proof of your age when you enter a pub or a club or if you attempt to purchase alcohol. Like wise if you look under 21 you will be challenged for proof of your age when attempting to purchase alcohol from off licenses.
Most of the town centre establishments constantly check for proof of age documentation, which normally takes the form of either a passport or driving licence.
The target audience therefore take out with them either Passports or Driving Licences. The issue surrounding these two items are Loss, Theft and due to the constant use the inability of the regulatory forces to read the document. This results in frustration on both sides, which then instigates conflict between the parties.
Proposal
Street Safe will coordinate the implementation of a generic proof of age card for the borough of Oldham.
This card will be available to those persons who fall within the 18 - 25 year category and will be available through the Oldham Community Safety Unit, Connexions, & Oldham College.
The card has been approved by the British Institute of Inn Keeping and will have permission to use the PASS Hologram, which will make the card unique and prevent forgeries.
The card application will be subject of a vetting service with applicants having to produce a passport / driving licence or birth certificate with a signature of a professional person who has known the individual for a number of years.
How much will it cost?
£2 the price of an ALCOPOP, cheap at twice the price and well worth it. However, the first several thousand issued will be free.. so get yours soon..
