Oldham Borough have 57 CCTV cameras situated throughout the borough.
20 of these cameras are situated in the town centre and monitor incidents that occur.
The cameras are there to ensure the public are safe and provide a valuable method of intervention.
The cameras are monitored on a 24 hr basis by a team of qualified staff.
TALKING SIGNS
To ensure the public are aware of the CCTV cameras within the town centre Street Safe has purchased signs which will speak to you and inform you that you are within a CCTV controlled area.

TAXI CAMERAS
Cameras have now been fitted to 19 taxis within the borough of Oldham.The camaras which take still pictures of all the occupants are there to protect the driver and the passengers alike.
The Cameras take 20 pictures as you enter the vehicle and 20 pictures as you exit.During your journey the camera will take a number of pictures, that when placed together provide a record of what has occured within the vehicle.
If there is trouble within the vehicle the driver has the ability to take pictures at a rate of 10 per second which are then recorded onto a computer similar to that found in aircraft 'Black Box'
