Cab Safe

Cab Safe is a BRAND new concept!

It's a project aimed at the Private Hire & Hackney Carraige Trade and designed to suit the trade by Street Safe, Oldham Race Equality Partnership and Local Authority Licensing Department.

WHY?

This workforce is constantly abused either physically, verbally or mentally by certain members of the public. To combat this type of behviour the Drivers and receptionists will receive diaries to record incidents of abuse.

These records will then be passed to the appropriate authorities so that they can investigate alledged offences.

They will aslo receive training in the following:

Personal Awareness Training

Customer Care

Anti Social Behaviour

Race / Hate Crime

The trade are also aware that they need to move with the times and accept that some drivers taint the professional practices of those drivers who provide a valuable service to the community.

Drivers will also be issued check sheets to ensure that prior to starting work a check is conducted of their vehicle to ensure that it conforms with the Law.

Operators who have a minimum of 40% of their workforce trained and using the diary sheets and check sheets will be ligable to apply for the Platinum Award of Professionalism.

The first of the courses was ran in Septemeber when a mix of 70 receptionists and drivers attended a 1 day course at Oldham College.

The day was a big sucess and will be repeated throughout the following 12 months.

Some of the vehicles have cameras fitted to them to assist in combating this anti social behaviour, whilst many more drivers have shown a keen interest.
